Between Sundays...


I have to admit right off the bat that I have borrowed my title from a great book I just finished reading by Karen Kingsbury, Between Sundays... Want to give it a plug for my reading friends!!



     I guess the Lord used the main plot of this book to get me to thinking and focusing on MY between Sundays.  But even more than that, realizing that what I do between Sundays...how I spend my time, how much I study, read, & pray... truly affects my actual Sunday....how I worship, how I minister, what I learn.

     My desire is to use this opportunity to encourage you to seek the Lord in everything you do all through the week...Spend time in devotional study and in God's Word; read great books that point you to Christ.  Those of us with kids, spend time teaching them God's Word.  And last but certainly not least, PRAY!!!  Pray for your family, your church family, your church leaders, the lost...pray for growth and wisdom and discernment.  Pray for understanding for where the Lord has you.  Pray to be in sync with how God works!!

     I want to share a part of a devotion from John Piper's Devotional book, Taste and See entitled "How to Pray for the Soul".  He calls it the meat and potatoes of his prayer life and it is good stuff!!!
Here is how we should pray:
    1. For the desire of my heart to be toward God and his Word.
 Incline my heart to Your testimonies and not to gain. (Psalm 119:36)

      2. For the eyes of my heart to be opened.
Open my eyes, that I may behold wonderful things from Your law. (Psalm 119:18)

3. For my heart to be enlightened with these “wonders.”
[I pray] that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened. (Ephesians 1:18)

4. For my heart to be united, not divided, for God.
O Lord, I will walk in Your truth; unite my heart to fear Your name. (Psalm 86:11)

5. For my heart to be satisfied with God and not with the world.
O satisfy us in the morning with Your steadfast love, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. (Psalm 90:14)

6. For strength in this joy, and endurance during the dark seasons.
[I pray that God] would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man. (Ephesians 3:16)

7. For visible good deeds and works of love to others.
[I pray that you] will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord...bearing fruit in every good work. (Colossians 1:10)

8. For God to be glorified.
Hallowed be thy name. (Matthew 6:9)

9. In Jesus’ name. 
He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, will he not also give us all things with him? (Romans 8:32)

Welcome to the

    School room "makeover" edition of the  Not-Back-to-School-Blog Hop!!!! This by far will be my most exciting post yet!!!  As I mentioned in my curriculum post, this is my second time to homeschool .  The last time I homeschooled , my children were in 2nd and 4th grade, and we homeschooled for two years.  We actually did our schooling in a small dining room where the table took up most of the room.  My daughter sat at one end of the table and my son at the other.  I sat in the middle.  I had a wicker basket thingy with 3 drawers with all our stuff.  Now, they are in 9th and 7th grade-which means they are much bigger - lol !!!  Not to mention the fact that I am schooling two of their friends.  That means two 9th graders and two 7th graders. Well, the room I did homeschool in no longer exist due to a little remodeling, and we just so happen to have an extra room that was supposed to me my husbands room for an office and/ or work- out room but actually had turned out

1 CORINTHIANS 13 – - A CHRISTMAS VERSION - By an unknown author If I decorate my house perfectly with plaid bows, strands of twinkling lights and shiny balls, but do not show love, I’m just another decorator. Not Back to School Blog Hop: Curriculum

This is our first year back homeschooling. They are in the 9th and 7th grade. The last time we homeschooled, they were in the 2nd and 4th and we homeschooled for two years. For the past three years we have been at a wonderful Christian school in our area. I taught 4th grade and my daughter had a wonderful experience in middle school, 6th through 8th grade. Our school only went to 8th grade. My son had a rougher time. The teachers were wonderful and he had great friends, played basketball and flag football, but academically he struggled due to his autism. The lockers, changing classes, over stimulation, etc. But the Lord has continued to be faithful throughout our school career whether we were in private school, public school, or homeschooling, so I have no doubt that the upcoming year will be no different.  I am so excited to be sharing this adventure with several close friends at my church and equally excited that I will be homeschooling a friend for each of my kids.  We are looki
